A couple weeks ago I installed my JDM trunk.. everything is fine except the key fob trunk pop doesn't work. The button/lever in the car pops the trunk fine just the key fob doesn't work. I've tried another key and it doesn't work either. I also don't hear any noises coming from the trunk when I press the button (like nothing is engaging).

Edit: Well I'm half retarded at times.. I got the shop who painted my trunk to weld a piece of metal into the key hole on my FD1 trunk so now wasn't using the OEM one.. Had that plug and the locking mechanism plug switched because, as I now know, they are the same size.

I guess just an FYI to anyone having a similar issue.
Yo where did you get the trunk lid with the key hole? I know it's going to bother me not being able to use that.

:yeahthat: good question. and where did you get the ducts from?
got them from password jdm. they dont have it on their site, but i called and asked and they said they could order some for me from japan. the ducts i got are genuine "FD2 J's racing air ducts" and they are fiber glass, no cf option

So your air ducts did you install those on your bumper first and then install the lip?
actually its more complicated then that. if you pair the FD2 J's Lip and ducts then it doesnt matter because they work with eachother.

but i have the mugen lip and the J's ducts overlap and don't sit flush. so before i even painted my car i test fitted the lip, then i put the j's ducts on over the lip so they over lap. then i traced and had to cut the mugen lip a little on the top where the two parts overlap. then you paint.

are you guys doing this on your own? i have mine did by a body shop so the FD1 trunk work really good on mine. used the USDM key assy and the body shop had to make a custom rod for it to work on the FD1 trunk. need the rod to be longer.

Haha nah I really don't plan on doing this on my own even tho I do have the tools to do that but who knows. So the rod your talking about is the one that goes from the key hole assembly to the latch the releases the truck? Do you have any pictures of the modifications the shop did for you and of the rod?

I wanted to get a truck that had it ready to go, I also found this key hole garnish that would go on the FD1 trunk lid, I've seen some FD1 trunks with the key holes and saw a gap where it is places and thought this would be sweet to have.

If you or anyone know where I can get a trunk with the key hole that would be legit!

As soon as I receive the rest of my parts in the mail, I'm doing my rear conversion. I'll post pics of everything and try to provide a write up if time allows

^Cool! Be prepared to do a little trimming to fit the rear brake lights. The USDM lights have (4) mounting holes and the JDM tails have (3) holes. I had to fab up a small easy-peasy bracket to hold it in there good. And had to trim away some of the factory metal bracket.. Sounds scary.... it isn't. :D

Do you have any pics of the bracket you made? I know there is modification to make everything fit but no one has complete pics of everything required. That's another reason why I want to make an updated how to

I don't have pics of the rod. Sorry. And also i have the same garnish for the key hole. That should work.

No.. literally it was just a .5"x3" piece of bracket I had chillin around. And used it to brace the light against the existing bracket.

Hard to explain. Plus it was like 5 years ago LOL. IIRC, there is a DIY on here or YouTube I think. But idk if they covered this aspect of it. Honestly it only took me like < 45 mins to put the lights and trunk on after painted. I had to RUSH and put it on before my dad came home so he wouldn't see what I had done and I was able to do it pretty easily :rotfl:

I'll try to find that install vid

Could you take a picture of how you setup the key assembly on the fd1 trunk.
I'll try to take some pics this week.

Awesome car!! Really well done.
Thanks. It took me awhile to get all the right parts plus i went out of the country for over a year. The fenders alone took me about 4 mos. from Japan because of some shipping issues. It's all worth the wait.
