You want to smooth off the edges because you will connect the end that is flared to a silicone coupler. That flare on the end sits inside the airbox cover. You will need to remove that flare in order to either use a coupler or a cone filter.

No problem. I went through 4 airbox covers trying to get my cowl induction right. I have several housing just sitting around. BTW, what cone filter do you plan to run with your system>

:eek:mg:

How did you get a few airbox covers? :shady:

Well, I took a wrong turn and went on a wild goose chase trying to adapt a CRV airbox to fit in the engine bay. After that, I used the Si cover and finally got it right. Hondapartsdeals.com loves me.

The only problem with the paint is sometimes the paint will melt from the heat under the hood and it will cause the coupling and intake tube to slip off. I've had this happen a few times to myself nand a few of my customers. I had to remove the paint where the coupler and tube fit over.

That's why I used automotive wrinkle finish paint. Mine looks great and nothing has melted. Gotta make that Soxfan143 housing look sexy, you know!
