I was having the same thoughts about changing at the dealership after FP. Only reason I do the oil at the dealer is for the records when i eventually go to sell the car. I just told the service advisor i re-set the oil life % myself. He just said OK and asked what I was in for. They're not going to plug your car in while getting an oil change.. just lie to them lol

 

so is the oil life meter just disabled? im in the exact same position, i have a K&N intake and just flashed my car yesterday. but i haven't looked at the menus in the car to see if the oil life meter is still there or not.

and why couldn't we just flash the car back to the stock tune bringing it into the dealership, and then flash it back to the K&N base map afterwards? wouldn't that be a pretty simple solution? it only takes a minute to upload the map.

 

Well the sensor that the oil life meter relies on is disabled so the oil life meter stays at 100% until that sensor is enabled. If we flash back to stock the oil life meter will work but its the equivalent of resetting it. I wont return to X%.

i do it at dealer as well
but if ur really worried just do it at like jiffy or firestone etc and keep reciept records with mileage indicators
i still prefer dealer records cuz it shows since first change i been running synthetic too and they got it down to the day i bought it when i brought it in for a detailing etc.... they keep everything on file from buying windshield wipers to wax etc

I learned something today. Flashpro disables the oil life sensor. No wonder my oil life is always at 100%. Thanks.

OP, you change your oil with flashpro the same way you do without it. using some jackstands a bucket and a wrench. Goodluck

do you people read the directions for stuff you buy? all this info has been discussed on the forums in great extent and also on the hondata website.

you can not re-enable it. just count your miles like you should be anyways. hodnata disables it.

FlashPro only locks the oil life sensor if you are using the MAP based tunes, mine still worked when it was on the AFM tune.

 

When using a map based tune does flashpro only lock the oil life sensor? Do the other maintenance minder alerts work like rotate tires or is the whole maintenance minder system disabled?

 

The whole maintenance minder system is disabled so you need to track everything yourself. My oil reminder came on almost exactly every 6k miles...

 

The oil life sensor is not disabled. It's just not being read. The MAF Sensor also houses the oil life sensor along with the air temp sensor and the air/fuel balance sensor. When you start calibrating with the MAP sensor, the only thing inside that cluster that is read is the Tempreture.
The oil life sensor readings are based on how much air travels past the MAF. If the MAF is not your primary means of reading, then the oil life will always stay at 100.

A lil test.

Load a MAF based calibration, and check out what it reads.
