Thanks, I need to get some of that.

On a similar note, I also need the weather strips for side windows on 2008 4-door EX. $50 each OEM, OUCH! Has anyone tried the aftermarket ones for $50 for the whole set?
Hi, for the side windows I installed this aftermarket set about a year ago and they’re working just fine.

Amazon: Newsmarts 4pcs Weatherstrip Windows Seal Door Belt Molding Weather-Strip for Honda Civic 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011

The hard part was getting the old ones off because they were really stuck on there! I found this video helpful.

Sorry the website is blocking me from posting links because I’m new, and I just spent a whole lot of time editing this post to satisfy the filter they have in place. Good luck!

@danchrisjohn Hey, thanks for the information on the side window molding. I will give those a shot. I believe a clip attaches them inside the door and they are impossible to remove without breaking off the clips which makes them impossible to reinstall. That has been my experience at the salvage yard. Found some nice ones but they break when trying to remove them. I need the front moldings as well.

cheap fix

Hello.

Ha ha. No you don't need to make it stay that way and you don't need to pay $100 for the trim.

What I did was go to home depot > go to house door section > buy some squishy rubber trim > I bought 1/4" thick, but in hindsight, if they have a little thicker it is better. I can't remember the cost - probably $3-7 for a roll, which is enough for both sides plus extra.

The 1/4" rubber trim width fits well in most of the slot, except the ends where you have to taper it with a scissors, and the middle where it is a little loose (hence recommending buy little thicker). Don't need to worry about making it look neat when you cut - you won't see the sloppy cut because you're squishing the rubber in there and can't see it when its done.

I didn't bother adding extra adhesive... the rubber stayed in place and did not move around for 3 years (until the windshield repair man pulled one side out and threw it away). I have to reinstall one side.

good luck.
