Aright so I recently got the Volts slim ballast + 6000k HID set. After two weeks or so of it being installed on my baby, I'm extremely glad I got the kit. The install was a SNAP, literally all I had to do was snap a few plugs together and it was installed. You can also hear the snap from the wire when you plug it in to confirm that it's been connected properly. The bulb had no fitment issue, as other people have experienced with different brand. Just make sure you twist it all the way so that the white metal stick with the bulb points to the ground. I had a small problem where I didn't twist it hard enough and this affected the ray of light from the right side. But quickly fixed by re twisting it back into proper place. This ballast was extremely thing, I ended up locking it on the frame together with the igniter/small black box wit some zip tie.

I'll try to get more pictures wit my friend's dslr later and maybe do a bit of a comparison wit his as well if we can find time.

Well here are some pictures that I took with a point n shoot:

Both color on the bulb match perfectly, would definitely recommend this kit to a friend who is looking for a set of plug and play.

Thanks Billy! Glad to hear you're happy with your purchase. I know what you mean about finding it hard to take pictures of HIDs and getting the right color. From my experience it is best to take them in an underground parking garage. I'm sure you will find it a lot easier with an SLR though =)

Hi,

The only difference between the 2 kits that you have mentioned is the bulbs. In terms of ballasts, both kits use Xtreme Digital ballast. There are 3 main differences between the 2 bulbs used in the kits though:

1) Philips bulbs color shift meaning that they get slightly crisper/bluer in terms of color output over time. They can reach color temperature of approx 4700k once they fully color shift (approx 100 hours).

2) Philips bulbs will be slightly brighter. Having said that, it's not as if you were to install the 4300k Xtreme HID kit with the Japanese bulbs you would regret doing so due to lack of light output.

3) The country of manufacture of the bulbs.

Here are some pics of our 4300k Xtreme kit (non-Philips bulbs) installed in an 8thgen:

These look like a really affordable upgrade!

Just have a real quick newb question. I've heard that the lights are too bright because they are used in non-HID housings. Is this true? Has anyone had any problems with the lights being too bright for other drivers, and cause an annoyance?

Thanks.

ive never dealt with older halogen housings and HID upgrades, but supposedly ours are pretty good (comparatively). i havnt had anyone flash me and have yet to have someone else drive my car to see the glare firsthand. but i did slightly adjust the left light under the right side's cutoff. its the best lighting upgrade aside from the coveted (and expensive!) retrofit.

We have had a ton of customers on this board install our kit using their OEM headlights with very positive results. Please view this link for some more non biased reviews:

or... we also have a 10 page thread that went on during our last promotion:

Hi Guys,

As per your questions:

1) The Xtreme kit will come with a relay harness that will power the ballasts directly from the battery. All you will end up using your vehicle's OEM headlight harness for is simply to trigger the relays in our harness on/off. This harness will ensure that the ballasts always receive a constant 12V.

2) We do not sell 55W HID kits. Please view this link for more information:

HID Kits |XenonDepot HID Light Conversion Kits l 4300k HID Kits | 5000k HID Kits | 6000k HID Kits | 6500k HID Kit | 8000k HID Kits | Xtreme HID Kit

The Xtreme 4300k HID kit will come with a relay harness.

3) The "8thcivic" coupon codes works for me.. What product are you trying to order?
