Got a random question that I can'd find the answer to and hoping you guys could help.
On a FWD such as the civics, in this case front & rear rotors, the front brakes is mainly used in braking, hence they are usually worn out faster and changed more often then the rear. What I want to know is is the rear brakes is used in braking, and if so how much is the rear brakes contributing when braking? The rear brakes should last forever if its only use is with the e brake.

Every time you put your foot on the brake pedal in any car, it sends about 70% of the braking force to the front brakes, and about 30% to the rear.

So to answer your question, they are used every time your foot touches the brake pedal.

I'm not familiar with the ebrake system in these cars, but more often than not the ebrake is completely separate from the rear brakes that are used to stop the car (ie: ebrake shoes inside a rear disc).
