So cani just get the 10mm nut at home depot?

 

No.....You need automotive grade at least.

 

Stainless steel is not the right kind of nut for the header.

Correct.

The Honda exhaust nuts are also a slightly undersized, self-locking M10x1.25. That prevents them from backing out as the exhaust manifold expands and contracts with heating and cooling.

 

thanks for posting this... Im going to be switching to a nicer header really soon either skunk2 or go power custom. Im sure all my bolts there i was going to switch them too titanium ones cause there strong lite and dont rust,corrode at all. Im sure there expensive so i will have to check on that. Does anyone know if skunk2 gives you a manifold gasket with their header or do we reuse the factory like vibrants setup. Is there any negative to keep using the stock one does it go bad after awhile. I dont want any leaks at all?

then to eb on the safe side, get a new gasket from honda. last thing you want it to get back under the car to replace a gasket cause you didnt feel like spending the $10 the first time.

however, i reused my gasket (a few times) without any problems.

 

The nuts should be a bit tight to thread on. I believe Honda advises their techs to change them at every header removal. I don't do that but I do replace them when they thread on easily. And the stamped steel gasket is re-usable.

 

cool thanks guys i like doing stuff right the first time before i install the header i will get new factory hardware and gasket. I think i may have a leak now with my vibrant its version 1 so im sure its leaking somewhere. Thanks quickfit!

 

I aways use a good bead of copper RTV sealant on the collector gasket. That goes a long way in preventing leaks.

 

2-14mm nuts on top and 3-14mm bolts on the bottom
