What brand calipers?

I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX automatic transmission sedan (102,000 miles). What brand calipers should I get? Any brands to avoid? Is it ok to get remanufactured calipers? Does coated or uncoated matter if I live in Philadelphia, PA? I had very premature brake pad wear on both sides. I looked at the caliper and the rubber dust cover seal on the piston is torn on both. On one of the calipers, the rubber boots on the slide guide pins weren't attached to the caliper, just to the pin. The pins were all gunked up although I put fresh sil glyde in there a year ago. Anyway, I don't feel like rebuilding the calipers, and I don't think they're that expensive, so I was just going to get new ones. Do new calipers usually come with everything including guide pins and the rubber boots? I've seen some online that say they don't include the bracket. I guess I can just use my original bracket? Thanks

I live in the philly suburbs and lived in the Poconos when I was younger. GET the coated calipers (rockauto). When searching for the calipers, some come with everything you need (guide pins, pad shims, etc ). As far as the boots for the pins, you can get them in a kit at your local Advanced or AutoZone. Anyway, look for "lifetime" warranty if possible, if not, no worries, but make sure you get the coated calipers (ask me how I know). I prefer OEM parts, but Honda wants way too much for them. If you can get OEM pads, go for it. Again, rockauto has (usually) a good selection of brakes (or whatever part you need). Good luck

I had to replace both rear calipers on my son's 08 Civic EX, driver's side 74,500 miles (Auto Advantage), passenger side 93,100 miles (Rock Auto-don't know brand). The calipers came with the bracket. Passenger side was coated. Both rebuilt calipers have been good at 100,000 miles. Front calipers are original.

I have a Si sedan. And I bought remanufacturered TSX calipers. They have been on for over a year in SoCal and zero issues. I bought them at O’reily’s auto parts. They ARE Honda OEM ones, wanna know how I know? They have NISSIN stamped on each one! If you can the remanf joints coated for those nasty NorEasters! (LOLZ), then get them at NAPA or some am trusted store near you. I used to live in NJ, grew up there, so I know the bad winters 🥶 and such.

Wait so is it the brake pad or the brake calipers? The seal and rubber boot can be replaced individually if that’s the cause of the problem, so you don’t have to get a whole new set of it’s just the seals/boots. Some break pads where really quickly anyway (depending on the quality). If you get highway end/expensive ones they will withstand more heat and a longer duration, but if you get cheap ones and are always driving a 100+ miles each day and doing frequent stop and go’s on highway traffic, then it will definitely where out quickly.

if you’re not wanting to do all of that, then yeah, you can buy calipers whether you get them off a junkyard car or get high techcalipers like Brembo or StopTech. As you mentioned, some company’s might not offer everything, so you can always use the parts needed from old calipers (assuming you get OEM).
