nice thread jeshua. before this thread becomes a massive unsearchable monster like the other, delete all these replies except the OP. keep only replies with contributions. no banter.

How much does the Mugen suspension lower? I'm assuming a conservative amount.

I've only rubbed on this one dip. I was driving 70-75 mph and I had six people in the car (don't ask). :D

Jeshua mentioned it being "safe". But, he didn't mention under which circumstances. With that being said, riding at stock height with a stock alignment isn't specified. Therefore, a 17x8.5 +30 setup WILL work with a stock alignment and a stock ride height. No stretched tire either. 235/40 is what I'm currently running. I have had ZERO rubbing issues except for that one time I had four people riding in the backseat and my full coil-over setup thrown in the trunk.

I suggest that the Diam. (17 or 18)" x 9" ET: 35-45

be changed to : Diam. (17 or 18)" x 9" ET: 35-40

45 will almost definitely rub your your suspension components.

Well I ended up trying a 17x9 with +45 offset and it fits. The front is a little scary maybe 1mm if that from the strut. Im running the RT615 235/40/17. Note: this setup will only work on stock struts. If you are using coilovers this will not work I tried it last night.
It's close, but it'll clear with a smaller sized tire. Note: On stock suspension/struts only. Aftermarket coilovers of any type won't work. Dave has tested this as well, only with a +47 I believe, but he had spacers of different widths.

+45 could work on stock struts, but as John (mugen_kid) mentioned your only leaving yourself a few mm of clearance. So with a wider tire or more negative camber then he is running (not sure of his alignment specs) +45 might even be an issue with stock struts.

To be safe, I agree, I would stay with +35 to +40.

That's true, with a 225 or smaller it could work. But that is a stretch

And yes I tested a 17 x 9 +47 with a 5mm and 10mm spacer. Unless you modify your coilovers and/or go with a much lower offset, there is no way you are clearing 9's up front with coilovers.

As far as a 17 x 8 +30 not being safe, that's a matter of opinion. I ran my 17 x 8 + 32 with a 215/45/17's which in my opinion aren't much of a stretch and I had I only rubbed occasionally and I am much lower than Mugen SS's.

you got a pic of your +30 offset setup? what kind of camber were you running up front?
