Thanks for the ideas, that's actually what I'd planned on too - the thru socket for the nut; a cut-down allen key to hold shaft (driven with a small socket). But then seeing prices for KYB 'Strut Plus' which includes spring & all parts, vs. strut only, it's almost the same total price. (Since I then don't need those tools plus proper OTC spring compressor - wouldn't use cheap junk for that tool. Plus a KYB rebate - altho that ends today!). So I've just opted for that option from rockauto, replacing the whole assembly instead of taking springs off.
