I have the stock EX rims. I never knew that you could paint your own rims, but I saw a few and they actually looked good . . . I read some tutorials, but I'm still kind of lost. I read that you have to put the rim in the oven?? What if I don't want to take it off the wheel? How long will it take to dry? How many coats? What kind of primer? Where do I buy the primer, paint, & clear coat?...... Anything else is appreciated, thanks :)

if the rims are metal sand then with some 320 grit till the shine is all gone and spray them with some spray paint. then go over them with some good clear. i recently painted a set of rims i got off craigslist and i didnt even take the tires off when i changed the color from white to black. i just cut up some file folders into 2"x4" sections and stuck them in between the rim and the tire and sprayed away. make sure to use a good clear. i found some body shop type clear in a spray can at a body shop, the stuff was made in in canada and worked excellent. i used to work in a body shop and it worked exactly like normal clear would. i was pleasantly surprised. sorry for the less than great photo it was taken with my iphone

thanks, its not bad for $10 bucks in black spray paint $15 in clear and $5 in scotchbrite, i hope your turns out well too. if you have any more questions or problems feel free to ask.

i forgot to add it 10x easier to use red scotchbrite than 320 sandpaper. the scotchbrite just fits in all the grooves and weird places much better and gives the same sanding as 320grit. this is the stuff i am talking about

-clean the wheels
-scuff them up with 320 grit sandpaper
-wipe with a tack cloth
-tape up the tires or put index cards between the wheel and tire
-spray some primer on them
-spray the color
-coats of clear
i used duplicolor self etching primer, wheel paint, and clear coat. you can pick these up at autozone or something similiar
