Not sure why you think 188f Engine coolant temp is hot.... it's absolutely perfect. Engines should run between 180-210f at all times for peak efficiency. Now, you can run them cooler if you NEED to if it's heavily built. I believe you would need to locate a thermostat that opens sooner, and is designed to run at your goal temperature.

 

Any engine can be run without one, you just run it without one.
Why you would want to though, makes no sense.

I put a 195 degree in my last car. Heat in winter was great!

 

Absolutely no benefit to removing a thermostat unless it's stuck closed causing a true overheat. 188f is nowhere close to an overheat, actually on the cold side for most newer engines. As far as FC, usually running an engine on the cold side makes this worse, not better.
