So, despite the complete lack of feedback, I decided to go with this brand and this product for my 2010 Si sedan.
Pros:
- infinitely better low beam intensity and coverage as compared to the misaligned factory halogen units. (My left headlamp had a faulty vertical convergence of the low and high beams, such that aligning it for either beam would compromise the other).
Cons:
- (Presumably) Over-torqued the projector so that the horizon is now rotated clockwise 5+ degrees, unnecessarily illuminating the oncoming drivers (on right hand drive roads in North America).
- The shield cut-offs converge, indicating that the two beams are not horizontally parallel, but are instead convergent.
Overall, these lights have provided a great step up from the factory equipment, but they left me wanting not only better execution of the existing features, but also a desire for an even brighter bi-xenon solution. So I am continuing to explore this space and am leaning toward building my own, beginning with a keen search for the best suitable headlamp shell to begin with. <sarcasm>I doubt that the Hella 90mm D2S bi-xenon will fit</sarcasm>, so I am looking at other possibilities, preferably a 50w D2S bi-xenon solution.
A question for our European participants: Do the (2006-2011) Civics there have H4-based headlamps or do you also get the 9005/9006 headlamps that we have in North America? I suspect that it would be easier to begin a DIY with an H4-based headlamp assembly, if one existed.
