True. You just clean it. I heard it might improve your MPG by like 1% if that.

 

I like it because i can clean it whenever.

 

My MPG went up slightly when I put mine in. It has stayed consistently about 1- 1.5 better. Worth it? Eh maybe. That plus lighter wheels and tires, with a slight drop = 4-5 mpg better. In combination it might be worth it. My goal was over 40mpg and im dang close.

Just stick with a short ram intake, if it is performance your looking for.

 

I bought my K&N drop in not too long ago and ultimately it's for the convenience of being able to wash it instead of replacing all the time (gets pricey in the long run to replace). though there probably wasn't any real HP gain, in my '10 Si coupe, it did "feel" like it pulled a little harder, sounded better too IMO (this was after an Icebox mod, so it'll be compounded with that though keep in mind).

 

don't go with oiled k&n di filters, not worth the risk
find a high flow dry filter, or go with sri or better yet...

Cars have been running k&n for years without MAF issues, it's just in using the oil in moderation. No one ever seems to have any issues until they clean it themselves which leads me to believe people use way to much when they do it. It really is too bad that other companies don't offer them for our cars because I was personally love a nice amsoil, apexi, or similar drop in filter

 

Like the previous post said - not worth it. It is a gamble, 99 folks would not have issues, but you do not want to be the 1 to have one. I did not clean it myself and had issues only after 2-3 month of use!!! Cleaned MAF threw away K&N - no issues.

 

short ram intakes are not as good as cold air intake because short rams make more noise yes but it sucks in hot air from the motor and can cause over heating plus it is closer to the front of the motor witch can be bad during a rainy season.
