I get that noise sound too on my 2009 can't say it sounds like a chirp but it doesnt sound right. if you find out what the sound is let us know. mine also does it every so often.

 

Mine does it too, but it's more like a buzzing sound. Don't know what it is.

 

I forgot to mention I have a 09 Si, don't know if that matters but dwightfair reminded me to also ask if it is only for 09 models or does any civic have the same problem

mine does it too right after the engine turns over i get a small chrip then it goes away.mechanic said it's hard to tell cause it only happens after the car has been sitting for many hours.i've heard it could be the starter relay but i think it's coming from the pulleys.wondering if it's a quick fix or not.

It should. They will probably replace the starter if they can confirm that's what the noise is and that's what it sounds like to me.

 

I hear what ur saying but if it was the starter wouldn't it happen all the time cold start or not?

 

Not necessarily. It could happen sometimes and not other times if it was GOING bad but wasn't bad completely.

 

:readtherules: :facepalm:it could all be the starter wire... if it is loose and don't make a complete connect it make a scratching sound....the wire goes from the + cable to the starter try that first and tighten that 8/10/12mm nut and try and see if that helps

 

i will definately try this does anyone have a diagram of this not sure where the starter is.

 

ok so i brought the car to my mechanic and he said the wiring is fine the problem is the actual starter.so i called our good friends at honda(lmfao)and he told me they cover the starter up to 60,000km and i have 71,000.nice.i found a place who will do it and it ain't at honda.thanks for the help Btw if your starter does make a quick chirp after start up it may last up to 2 years even,but better to fix asap cause it's a pain in the ass to hear every morning.
