When you don't know a basic intake gives you more airflow, that's when you should be worry about modding your car.
Not always will more air going in be good for your car.
Yup like example Forced induction brings in lots more air to burn fuel = more power but alot of people don't realize there needs to be correct A/F ratio with tuning.

The ECU automatically adjusts air fuel ratios, thus the purpose of the intake is to increase horsepower by improving airflow. Increased horsepower comes from more fuel burning. More fuel burning = lower MPG.

I still dont understand why you guys attempted to tell me or correct me somehow. Im baffled at the response you guys gave.

More fuel burning EFFICIENTLY will cause an increase of MPG(by 1-3).
That's why people with F/I have low mpg. They need to constantly adjust the A/F ratio depending on the weather.

I was responding on you saying to another guys post that intake increases mpg and then you contradict yourself somehow and try making a point which was an epic fail, I'm baffled and hope you dont give advice too often.

When was I contradicting myself?
All I said was an intake will not force but have a better airflow thus the engine will breath better. More fuel will be dumped into the engine but to correct running rich, the ECU will autoadjust the a/f ratio. Thus, the added fuel dumped into the engine will burn more efficiently. Engine Breathing better = good. Engine being forced to breath better = bad for mpg.
Get it now?

I was never asking you a ******* question you came out of no where and made a statement as if i didnt know that an intake increase airflow I mean wtf? THE PURPOSE OF ENGINE MODS ALMOST ENTIRELY is to create HP, they do this buy helping the engine breathe better. The more air the engine gets the more fuel is sent to burn with it thus creating more horsepower. I dont see what is so hard for you to understand?

Well... Finally calculated.. displaced 10.79 gallons for 338.9 miles... = 31.41 MPG if my math is right.

08 Si Sedan stock with 3k+ miles, IMO ready for it's 1st oil change, though the dealer says wait until 4k.

I'll take it!!!! :) I haven't had a car with +30 mpg's since my 92 blue Isuzu Impulse.. don't laugh, that thing was a rocket and got close to 40 mpg. :) Cool little car too. Blue version of this one...

More Fuel Burning Is More Fuel Burning Regardless, When You Increase Hp You Decrease Mileage
I think this is the most ignorant statement and blindness to the 100's of variables that can cause for an increase in hp.

Don't tell people information, straight up. And never come into something being so dam stubborn especially when you dont know what you're talking about. You come off really bad...

btw, fuel burning more effeciently means you're getting MORE out of it then you normally would. Means the same amount of fuel can give more power if x variable allows it to burn more effeciently.

i dont think i can put it any simpler.
