The gas tank has ALWAYS been 13.2 gallons. And as the manual states, when the light first comes one, there's 1.9 gallons left.
Why have i always thought it had 11 gallons!!!??? did i just pull tha figure out ma @$$?

Maybe I read that when the fuel light comes on you've USED 11 gallons? maybe that's where i got taht number from. that would make sense cuz that would mean you have 2 left right???

OH DEAR i should just sell my car now if i never knew how much fuel the tank could hold....grrrrr

yeah i got 379.5 on 11.9 gallons today when all my bars were gone so the tank still had 1.3 gallons (recently fixed my tire leak, and was going to orlando from jacksonville @ 85-95 mph on the highways to and from haha) its the highest mileage i've gotten since i bought this car ('08 LX) and I have CAI, header/downpipe combo, and exhaust, along with aftermarket wheels (17x9 +35mm) with 215/45/17 stretched on them and like 33 psi of air

those 379.5 miles were a straight trip?

ive gone 60+miles with No bars.. manual reads 13.3 gallons.. ive noticed that each bar, when tha reserve light is on, goes at 20miles.. then 0 bars ..so typically all if not most civics should be gettin a definate 300miles+ a full tank

Seriously can't believe it took this long for someone to say it. RTFM!!

Calculate your average MPG based on your driving habits, and assume there is only 1.5gal left. Say you average 24MPG, then fill up at 32 miles and you'll never run empty!

Also, you're lucky to have a fuel reminder light that's so generous! My old car did not even have one!! Then again, it had two gas tanks so I could just flick a switch and have 16 more gallons to drive on, but still!

its not good to run the tank to fumes.. it could suck up the crap in bottom of the gas tank. even though its a fairly new car with somewhat clean gas its a bad habit to start. i fill up when i have 3 bars left
Agreed. A carbouretor probably did **** different, but direct fuel injection of today means having clean gas and air... don't get so close to the bottom you're picking up gunk and mixing it into your heads! Or do it. I don't care. Your HP loss.

can anyone clarify when gas really runs out? i was driving today with 2 bars and the light turned yellow, then i ignored it and ended up with no bars and yellow, but luckily I was 2 miles away from a gas station, and was wondering would the light turn red if Im almost out? or would it be just yellow

Just yellow. 13.2 gallon tank, so do the math with what your avg MPG is and find out where empty would be. I wouldn't actually suggest filling up before it drops below one bar... by then you are pushing gunk from the tank into your heads and losing power.

I've been trying to calculate how much gas mileage is available when the amber low fuel indicator comes on. I generally get between 330-350 miles on a full tank and the low fuel indicator pretty much comes on when I'm down to 2 bars. I'm trying to guess just how much I can continue driving at that point. A full tank has 20 bars and I think I usually get about 15-17 miles per bar, but that's not always consistent or reliable. On a full tank I can get over 32 miles on the first bar alone. I just want to have a reasonably safe idea how much farther I can keep going when it comes on before filling up but it always makes me nervous so I just find the nearest gas station when it comes on because I'm afraid of running out.
I've been driving my 08 down low to test it too. I tend to get about 300 miles per tank. I also like to live a Lil dangerously when it comes fill up time. I run my tank w no bars more often than I should. Today took the cake. I drove nearly 30 miles w no bars. I'm starting to wonder if my gauge is broken. Nevertheless hope this helps.
