I'm definitely adding this to the "to do" list.

 

I had a problem following this DIY. Our lower grill is different. I'll post a pic to show you the final product, I had to cut a LOT more than this thread shows.

 

 

For the sedan all you have to do is take off the oem holder, flip it, move it down one "notch" on the bumper, and zip tie it to the black plastic through the holes where the original small bolts went. I didn't want mine to slide left and right and I also wanted it offset so I used 2 zip ties in the left (looking toward the bumper) hole and tied one to the left of the black upright plastic and one to the right so it doesn't slide. If fishing the zip ties through is difficult, bend them into a "U" shape. And I have to say, it looks much cleaner now with the plate lower although I would rather leave it off.

 

im trying to do this with my car but i have a 09 civic. will it still work? or is there another DIY for 09 civics?

See that third hole on the plate bracket? Right in the middle where you can see the bumper? Well mine had a screw in it...fml

 

is there anyway i can take down my orginal plate with out having two holes on my bumper?

 

you wont have 2 holes itll just be one and some dealerships didnt drill the hole the best way to tell is just remove it and see if its there its about 50 50 if itll have one or not if its there u can just put it back on

 

i think once my car is lowered im just gonna sand that hole down and cover it with a nice i love speedbumps sticker instead of that plug or a repaint

 

this is crazy easy and looks so much better i did have the hole in my bumper on a 2010 lx and be careful when ur screwing the license plate back in the screws holding my plate were too long and i almost added 2 more holes to my bumper just watch behind it and make sure they dont touch

 

Thank god we dont have front license plates in Az. They make cars look horrible..

Great DIY!!! just did it! took me 5min and looks great!

 

I have a hole drilled in the bumper!!! That sucks was looking forward in removing the plate!

 

I tried just zipping it, and it didnt hold tight. help?

i actually didn't cut anything when i did mine. i just flipped it around, and used zip ties to attach it. I'll probably end up doing this. I'm starting to get tired of having my license plate off centered.

 

I removed my bumper Wed. night and washed it yesterday, but as you can see all the dirt that built up around my front bumper. No holes :clapping:
