Display "peeling??"

I have an '09 Si (non-nav) and this evening I noticed that in the corners of the display, what looks to be the red film that gives the display its color, is "peeling" back form the corners of the display, allowing white light to show through.

It's very hard to tell, but it almost looks like there's a red film stuck to the back of the display, and someone held a heat source to the corners, and the film sort of melted and shrunk back from the corners. I'm in South Florida, and today was really hot (and heck, we're only in May!)...I wonder if the temp has anything to do with this.

Anyone seen this before?

I just got my '09 Si sedan and I have the same thing. Mine has more white light showing then yours but it looks like the same problem. I told them about it on my way home from the dealership and they told me to bring it in. Keep us updated, I'm interested in what they say the problem is.

I'm sorry but WTF? I got rid of my car at 2.5 years but seriously? What the hell is that? Did Honda honest to god put a cover on the display? WTF? Sorry, guys. I'm pissed. Wth kind of cheap crap is that?

OMFG. See? $21,000 for a car and they can't even bother to make a true color display? Cryst.

[Rant]If that is the amount of effort they can put forward, I'm done. No more Honda products. I don't even think Chrysler is that cheap.

Just noticed this "peeling" tonight. 09-Si. I have it peeling from the edge and also a small "speck" from the middle of the display. Looks like a rock peck.

Must say I'm quite disapointed in Honda on this one. I've never even heard of this happening in a car.
My concern is what they must take apart to fix this issue. I do not want them taking the dash apart. I can only imagine the scratches, trim misalignment, and new rattles once I get it back.

For those of you getting this fixed. Please let us know how they went about fixing it.

I was lucky to get my radio swapped out yesterday. I brought in my car in the morning and they said the radio would have to be ordered. The service guy said he'll try to get one next-day, but he wasn't sure. Turns out, there's a "national back order" on them. Luckily, someone had ordered a radio for the same problem and it had arrived at the dealer. Some strings were pulled and they installed the radio into my Si. :)

I think mine started peeling after direct-sun exposure when I mistakenly left the sunroof open while I was at the beach last weekend... I mean, I would've noticed the glaring bright white corner of the screen at night.

that suckss!!!!

i just got my 09 fg2 two months ago and its happening to me too =(
i noticed it like a month ago but didn't really make much of it, BUT IT'S SPREADING!!! should i take it to the dealer now, wait for a major recall, wait for the 2010 civics to come out, or something else? =( this sucks!!

oh yea i have one question: when people say "take it to the dealer" do they mean take it to the dealer you bought the car from or take it to any honda dealer? there's a honda dealership really close to me, but i didnt buy my si from there..

the stereo was obviously updated for 09. sucks that the civics are still getting little problems like this. and for those of you scared to take apart the dash to fix this issue, you can't just wave a magic wand and make it go away. the dash WILL be taken apart to replace the stereo.

i had the same problem. 09 si. just take it to the dealer and they will replace it no questions asked. they will order you a new radio and install it. i brought mine in and had it replaced and as far as the people worrying about them ripping into your dash mine looks the exact same as it did before i brought it in. no scratches or rattling :)
