disable door chime, NOT seatbelt chime

first let me say, this is NOT about removing the seatbelt chime. i'm not the type to just want to rip out the entire chime speaker, which i'm aware is used for all chimes in the car. i want to cut like one wire to the ignition or something. i know you guys are all crazy with the far fetched idea of somebody blaming you for their kid not putting their seatbelt on after disabling the seatbelt chime, and i've already given my opinion on how you guys are just being paranoid, but this isn't about that. you can't just lock every thread that comes within 10 feet of the seatbelt chime, that's ridiculous. otherwise you could deem the entire electrical system to be off limits due to safety equipment.

ok, so now with that said..
it's annoying that i can't even listen to music when i'm cleaning my car, without having the car started. i'm assuming i would have to remove the ignition, and then cut one of the wires right? so which wire would it be, and is there a guide on how to remove the ignition switch or whatever it's called? we need a method that will not disable anything else/important.

i'm too lazy to go look at my civic right now, but i had that chime disabled on my integra and i bet it's the same setup on the civic. it was pretty simple; there was a little 'button' in the door jamb that gets pressed by the door so the car knows when it's open or closed. to disable it you have to pull the rubber cover off from over the screw, unscrew it, and pull the button out. there was 1 wire plugged into this button that i unplugged, and screwed the button back in.

the only crappy thing about not having the chime is that there'll be no reminder to take your keys out of the ignition when leaving the car.

if only more people went in and just started cutting wires to disable stuff, car makers wouldn't put this bullshit in. i can see safety stuff, but a ding that says "hey hey hey you forgot your keys hey your keys are in the car hey you hey you hey you". i wonder what they were thinking. ya, i'm glad it was still dinging 5 minutes later, because for the first 5 minutes of it dinging i didn't realize my keys were in the ignition.

The speaker is located on a circuit board under the dash. I forget the name of the board but it located right above the interior fuse box. The only thing you can do to disable it is to desolder the speaker from the board. It's not connected with wires and there is no other way to disable the chime. Unless to take out the door sensor as others have said. But this will cause the interior lights to not work and the alarm will not go off if the door is opened.

I recently removed my door chime from the tach. Its pretty simple to do. Remove the lower panel below the steering column. Unscrew a bolt that holds the upper plastic panel in place. Its located on the underside of it. After the bolt is removed, the upper panel just pulls out with clips. Three bolts to remove the tach. Disconnect the tach from the wiring harness. Remove the back cover of the tach and there's a little blue speaker on the circuit board. Just wiggle it back and forth in a twisting motion a little ways and it will slowly slide out from the board. and no more door chime.

Is this the speaker you are talking about?

Because I can't seem to wiggle it out. It seems glued and soldered on there.

i keep a philips screwdriver in the door pocket and when i know im going to leave it open for a time i use it to remove the driver's door switch. that opens the ground enabling the chime. just dont let the wire fall back though the hole. (thats a B piller removal = seatbelt removal)

if you dont remimber you took it out, you will when the dome lights dont work LOL.
