Can't take my car out of PARK!!!!

I have a 06 Civic and now I am having trouble with getting my car out of park. The car won't come out of park, unless I pump the brakes 100x's and then the brake lights finally come on and I can get it to move. When I depress the brake it makes a "Squeak" not a squeal...

Anyone have this trouble before. I have already replaced calipers and had all the basic brake maintenance done to the brakes that are needed (2 months ago) The brakes do work and stop the car when I am driving, but my brake lights don't always turn on.

Please someone help me, I can't drive around like this!!!!

their should be like a little button about the shifter that you can remove with ur key or flat head screw driver. that is ths shifter lock, i believe you put your key in their and it will release the shifter. it sounds like the saftey switch is bad. it happened on my moms car to exact same thing. had to pump the brakes 100xs before it went into drive/reverse

^^yeah that. My mother in law has a 03 accord and had the same problem and it was the brake switch. She spent about 15 minutes one time trying to get it out of gear, and eventually didnt have any brake lights. It was a $10 part at the dealership. I would start there and see if that fixes the problem since it is a cheap start and simple to replace.

Yeah where the pedal curves back up towards the steering wheel under the dash.. You will see something that looks like a little ignitor used on like a propane grill.. If you are unsure just depress the brake pedal and you will see it hit the brake switch.. Just twist it and pull it out from its socket and pull the little plastic piece out that was holding it.. Hardest part is to find a good position on the floorboard
