i removed my balance shafts well over a year ago and it has freed up the motor quite a bit. vibrations are almost non existent. i also seemed to pick up another 3/4 of a quart in oil capacity.
the install is very intrusive, i would recommend only the highly skilled to attempt this or bring it to me, LOL ive done 4 cars already. you can do this 2 ways, drop the subframe to be able to drop the oil pan completely or raise the engine out a bit. then you will have to remove the valve cover and the front cover to the timing chain. follow the helms manual to remove the chain. after all this you will need to remove the balance shaft/oil pump tensioner and remove the chain guide. you will also need to remove the oil feed orfice on the block and plug it with a threaded bolt and some hondabond.
here are some pics of my car and a friends car.
old oil pump with balance shafts.
side by side view of the new RSX oil pump modified to the Z3 pump with balance shafts
here is a close up of the grinding u must do for this pump to fit the Z3 block
on the motor.
this is the RSX baffle you will need.
EDIT, here is a update on how to modify your K20a2/ z1 pump (type S)
tape off the pumps mouth and feed hole with painters tape.
set pump on bottom end and draw a line to measure were the trimming needs to happen.
grind off the area with a bench grinder and smooth out the rough edges with the wire wheel.
if done correctly you should have something that looks like this
should fit like a glove too, with none of the bottom end touching so it can bolt down flat on both ends.
IMPORTANT!!! do not forget to remove the oil feed orifice and replace with 12mm bolt as mentioned on the parts list.
