Add Heated mirrors

I have 2008 Honda EX. This didn't come with heated mirrors. EX-L comes with heated mirrors as standard. When I made the comparison between the two. I find that not many parts are needed to get heated mirrors. All harnesses are same for EX and EX-L models.

Needed parts:
76203-SVA-C11 MIRROR, R. (HEATED)
76215-SVA-C11 ACTUATOR, L. (HEATED)
76210-SVA-C11 ACTUATOR, R. (HEATED)
76253-SVA-C11 MIRROR, L. (HEATED)
39794-S10-003 RELAY ASSY., POWER (5P) (MICRO ISO) (MITSUBA) {This relay is to be placed in position 8 inside the fuse box under the hood (CONTROL UNIT (ENGINE ROOM) (2))}

Optional part:
79501-SNA-C01ZA KNOB SET B *NH608L* (You need this only if you want the mirror symbol on the defroster switch)

It works like a charm.

Harness in the car that has wiring for heated mirrors (should have 5 wires)

first remove the side cap on the door and unplug the harness. Unbolt the mirrors and remove it. You can it on a table where you comfortable replacing the actuator and mirror.

Heated mirror actuator with two wires from the plug. It is essentially the same actuator but the adds two wires for the heater from the white plug. If you can run the wires from the harness the car directly to the heater, then you may avoid this actuator cost!

I have added the switch on the dashboard to make it look perfect like a factory installed. If you are interested you may venture into that as well.

Found out the answer , for my 2010 Sedan EX anyway . The terminal connection coming from my mirror and the terminal connection coming from the door only have 3 wires and no open bays in either terminal for 2 extra wires . It's time to go schematical on this project . I will keep everyone updated on my progress of this project . Wish me luck ...

I am sorry to hear this. My car is 2008 EX 2 Door.

Here is what you should do.

1. compare the harness part number for EX and EX-L
Harness 2 - 32117-SNA-A44 for EX without NAV
Harness 2 - 32117-SNA-A71 for EX-L without NAV

For EX
Harness 4 - 32751-SNA-C02-Part 5-WIRE HARNESS, DRIVER DOOR $ 41.41
Harness 4 - 32752-SNA-C01-Part 6-WIRE HARNESS, PASSENGER DOOR $ 25.57

For EX-L
Harness 4 - 32751-SNA-A01-Part 5-WIRE HARNESS, DRIVER DOOR $ 19.40
Harness 4 - 32752-SNA-A00-Part 6-WIRE HARNESS, PASSENGER DOOR $ 19.40

Looks like schematic is different for 2 Door and 4 door obviously. You need the door harness for sure at least, unless you want to run the two wires separately. This might get more challenge. Please make sure you are comparing all the harnesses between EX and EX-L model which corresponds to mirrors and central fuse box.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the info !! I plan on splicing into the factory wiring and just running two wires . I am still studying the schematics and confirming that there is wiring coming from the under-hood relay location before I go another route . I am also trying to make this a simple and affordable DIY for someone with the same (mirror/door) harness .

I'm researching this same project on my 9th gen Civic and thought I would look to this forum for ideas. I've seen a lot of the same things you have as I've been planning. I thought I throw out this suggestion:

On the 9th gen wiring diagram, the heated mirror relay ports 1 and 3 tie together to a single circuit and connected to port C17 on the MICU/under-dash fuse and relay box (I looks like power comes in over this line). In all likelihood the wiring from C17 to the under-hood box doesn't exist if you don't have this from the factory. Running wires to the under-hood fuse/relay box would require penetrating the firewall. The wires on the other side of the relay then run back through the firewall to get to the mirrors on one side and the HVAC controller on the other.

If you can rig up a holder and wiring for the relay under the dash, you can avoid having to penetrate the firewall for those four wires which would greatly simplify the install. That's what I intend to try.

I live in central FL and I hear this all the time. What most don't realize is just how often those of us that have heated mirrors, actually use them.

I used mine twice yesterday. Once on the way to work and then again last night after leaving a party I was at.

Hello, can you advice.

I have civic coupe '08 LX. I bought "39794-S10-003 RELAY ASSY." and put in into a fuse box as on your picture. The connection to a mirror has 5 pins, that's a good sign.

What's bad: when I activate rear window heating and try to measure the voltage for that pins it shows nothing. Am I right assuming that by default the mirrors activate by that button? Or the 79501-SNA-C01ZA KNOB SET B *NH608L* part is not optional, but mandatory? Do I miss something?

Check that when you're activating the rear-defrost button you're getting power to the appropriate relay pins... I have found that on my '07 EX Coupe that the heated mirror relay does not get power when the rear-defrost relay activates the rear window heater.

I need to take the time to pull my underhood fuse box out of the car and take a look at the underside to see if my fuse box is wired correctly for the heated mirrors.

The 79501-SNA-C01ZA Knob Set B *NH608L* will not do anything towards fixing this problem. That is merely a different set of buttons, not a different set of the switches that sit behind the buttons...If you're looking to have the official heated mirror decal on the button, you'll need that "Knob Set B" but if you don't care that much about a little icon, then don't waste your time or money.

Welcome to the 8th by the way!

From what I can tell from these wiring diagrams, and ripping out the underhood fusebox this morning to peek at the wires, it appears that all the wires are there, there's even contacts in the fusebox where the mirror defogger relay goes. There must be something internal inside the underhood fusebox that is disconnected between the rear window defogger relay and the mirror defogger relay.

After an hour of tinkering, I'm still scratching my head...

Gotta go do some stuff today or I'd post a few of the pics I took.

If you'd like to look at some wiring diagrams, here they are:

Rear Window Defogger Circuit Diagram

Power Mirror Circuit Diagram with Defogger

Under-hood Fuse/Relay Box Connector Locations

I'd really like to get my mirror defoggers working before winter hits. Rumor has it that we're gonna have a good one in MD with lots of snow!
