The only idea I have is the original stereo is a non premium one, so the head unit powered the speaker. But the premium one maybe doesn’t have that because the premium ones have an amp that powers the speakers.

Is that right ?! What do I do !?!

 

yes, you need the factory amp and the sub.

 

An aftermarket head unit will probably be the same cost as getting a new OEM radio, and will sound better and have much more functionality.

I just got a second hand Sony headunit for super cheap, works great as now I have a reversing camera.

 

I already installed the OEM Honda premium unit, I don’t want to buy another one ! I just need to know what kind of amp to buy.

 

You need the OEM Amp to match up.. or find an amp (not as easy as one would think) you could find alos on ebay, but will also need the additional wire harness and the sub as mentioned above. It could be done though.

The factory has 4 outputs, Front L & R, Rear L & R.. with a differentail output, (not sure if its balanced or not..
The OEM Amp then amplifies that sigmal, and splits it into 7 outputs at an audio output level (speaker level signals).. it has the tweeter crossover in the amp, and the separate channel for the sub.

An after marker HU with modern apple/android car play is a much easier option.

I have pretty much the exact same unit you have pictured here (it seems like tons of different no-name online retailers sell them), and I can confirm that it will be 100% plug and play for a Civic that doesn't have Premium Sound. Even the steering wheel controls can be configured to work like stock. I'll say the sound quality over bluetooth isn't amazing, but otherwise it's a good deal for the price.

 

So as stated before, you can get those Android unit (replacing the whole HU), but doen't sound like you want to do that. I'd love to get about mention Android head unit, but and warry about it being buggy and I just like my OEM Nav even though it's almost useless, LOL. I am seriously considering getting this (similiar):

Some of them have dashcam/rearcamera, but whatever, I like that some of them offer an FM modulator so you can listen to you music/nav instructions. Plus, its completely cheap and you can unplug it if you don't like it. Like I mentioned, I considering one and placing it in front of the shifter, I'd rather not on top of the dash.
