What I did with another car I have, I purchased LEDs (link below) and just wired them into the interior light (buttons/radio/backlight) circuit. I installed 2 LEDs (1 in each of the foot well). They are not bright, nor are they dim. The factory kit I have in my Honda is dim at night, but the one I "make up" for my other ride is slightly brighter. It's not offensively bright to distract you from night driving, so its very close to OEM brightness. I believe it was worth it b/c trying to get this factory kit is near impossible and definitely not worth the cost and aggravation if it isn't compatible with your particular Civic.
