I have an 07 hybrid and it has gotten its first oil change a while ago. How do i know when to take it in for maintenance?
Do i only take it in when the oil life is low, or do i have to watch the mileage too? I am a total noob so please help me out!
thanks

I have an 08' Civic Hybrid I purchased mid summer 2008. I am at 5600 miles and the oil meter is at 20%. I will take it in to get the oil change in a week to two. The manual says that when the oil meter is at 15%, an oil change should be performed. I don't see why changing it when the car tells you to should be bad.

I read somewhere that changing the oil prematurely is bod for your engine, though I doubt 3 months will be premature changing.

Isn't this what the maintenance minder is for?

It should tell you exactly when to go in for service, and what service needs to be performed. They don't stick all these sensors all over our cars for no reason.

In the first year of driving my '08, maintenance minder has called for an oil change and tire rotate at ~8400 miles and again at ~16000 miles. The first time, I let the minder go to 5% and the second time I took it for service at 10%.

I changed out the cabin filter and the windshield wipers at the 16000 miles service as well.
