"There's no doubt that the Si is the performance and excitement steal of the century to this point for Honda (particularly considering how easy and how cheap it is to bolt on 40-50hp), "

what are these cheap mods that will add 40-50hp? Is this person talking about CAI , Cat-back?

Cuase to me those are expensive =P $200 for a tube with a filter = mucho dinero lol

You've got it right, CAI, cat-back, headers, etc. Literally things that you bolt on to the motor. These parts are cheap compared to other more extensive internal modifications, forced induction, etc. The point the writer was trying to get across was how well the motor responds to mods, but I don't know if you could get 50 horsepower from bolt-ons alone (unless you consider cams and ECU bolt ons).
^^ agreed. intake, exhaust, headers - bolt ons.

Turbos, nitrous, superchargers, etc aren't exactly bolt ons. Much more involved.
I think that quote was from TOV. Yeah, 40-50whp seems awfully nice with just boltons.. but what that writer didn't mention is that the TOV FG2 also has cams.
g'damn i was lookin at pricing for these things.....

600 for a catback
250 for intake
around 300+ for headers (some are more expensive than others due to them being polished it seems)

thats not cheap lol

Just be sure you shop around, Kabs. $600 for a catback is expensive, but I got mine for $495 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRed...33630QQitemZ8012862876QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
yea but that one doesnt seem to fit the 2006 =\

also if we are on the topic of catbacks.... which ones are the best? cuase i heard some sound ricey..

i acutally want mine to sound like the Si took steriods back when it was a freshman in highschool =P

Yes, I know it wouldn't fit the 06 Si. I was just giving you an example.
You can't expect brand new cat backs, header, intake, exahust, ect, ect..to be so cheap fresh on the market yeah your looking at at lease $800 for a complete exhaust for 06 civic. If anyone knows where there is one cheaper POST THE SETUP HERE and i will buy it!! :thumb: :driving:

I doubt that $800 for a complete exhaust setup for an 06 civic will be that expensive! I mean, the car JUST came out-aftermarket parts are not yet available. People are jumping to conclusions on prices. Be patient! :)
i cant be patient! i cant!! i need a supercharged turbo catback! =P

anyways...1st i must get a job =P

yeah, me too
intake, exhaust, header won't add 40 hp.. not unless you did those mods to a Z06, even then its tough..lol
for something like 40~50whp you need ecu E/I/H i know the k20 responds nice to bolt ons but isnt that good
i doubt you will get 40, nevermind 50

I think the RSX-S was doing around 170-175whp - with I/E/RH + flash it was doing around 205-210 i believe.. i can't reember exactly - with the kpro it was getting 210-215 (something like that) -
I'm getting DC headers and exhaust for 650, but that's only because my uncle has friends in DC. :)

If you think I/H/E is expensive, you should see how much TC's, SC's, complete sound systems, and other parts for your car costs!

it depends on the person. To some people, spending 1000-1500 in car audio is more valuable to them than a I/H/E setup.
The term itself is actually kind of funny because technically most modifications you make to any car are "bolt ons" regardless of how much work goes into it but when you hear the term you think of the obvious i/e/h

True true. Some people consider any "kit" to be a bolt on, and only consider hardcore custom one off jobs to be the way to go. Then again, not all of us can afford the luxury of having some dude spend weeks custom fabricating a part fr our cars. :p I'm going for a mix of both, mostly "bolt ons" because I'm poor.

the only non-bolton's are porting/polishing, engine blueprinting, etc...lol

but i do consider custom work even if it involves bolts, to not be a bolt-on since you have to fabricate it yourself.
