hey guys my friend got a hood and roof vinyl for his civic and he and i were happy as hell about putting it on the car. Until we tried installing the hood last night.

we cleans the hood
soaked the vinyl in hot water with a little soap in it
tried putting it on the car and then.... everything went to ****.

looking for advice from others that have done installs.

i am very good with cars built several motors, fixed faint and bodywork, so i never thought doing a vinyl would be such a pain in the ass. i figured hell np i can do this.

You soaked it in hot water with soap? I've never heard of this.

If it's just a solid color, start from one corner (or the center if you're into that kind of thing), and work your way out, using a heat gun to form it, and a felt-covered squeegee to work out the bubbles. On some more intricate pieces that might require re-positioning after it's been laid down, an ammonia-free window cleaner can be used as a lubricant.
