In my research for this I’ve seen many posts about leaks in the trunk on this form but they all have water accumulating in the spare wheel well where mine does not
I noticed the issue because my rear window would often have so much condensation on it that it would bead and drip down onto the rear deck. As well as my steering wheel starting to disintegrate in my hands due to the humidity.
During the rain today I found wetness in the trunk carpet going all along the edge at the front of the trunk. Checking the trunk lid under the loner I found rust and water droplets where two bolts come through. I think this is where the wing is mounted? (Si Sedan). But I could not tell if the lid liner was wet or not, everything is already cold its winter
Pulling back the carpet from either side of the trunk I found a little well with about 1” deep of water on both sides. In there was also the feeds for the sunroof drains and one way air circulation vents. All of which was dry on both sides
Here of some photos of the areas I’m talking about and a closer look. (Not my photos, my trunk as no rust inside, even where the water is)
In white is where the side wells are with water accumulation
Highlighted blue is where I found damp carpet
What are some steps I should take to resolve this? The photos that weren’t mine are from another user who had accumulation in the same side areas, a lot more than me however and they just drilled a hole to let it drain and didn’t figure out where it was coming from. How accessible are those vents to reseal around the edges from outside?
As for the droplets by the bolts on the lid, could I just out a bead of silicon there? Maybe even seal the wing to the trunk with a small bead of clear silicon to fill the gap on the outside?
Any other places I should check and other suggestions?
Thanks guys
