I was running 255 on a 17x8 +45 and no camber on the front and I couldn't get my pinky between the tire and the strut. Currently I am running a 5mm spacer on the front just to make it a little more flush. I couldn't run a 17x9 +45 without a spacer for sure.

*puts on flame suit.......*

Ok so I've read countless threads and seen countless setups and I'm STILL debating between 17x8 +28 or 17x8 +42. I checked the tire/wheel calculator and it tells me +28 will stick out 17mm further out...But is this the entire setup? Should I only take the top of my tire and fender into consideration?

Because if that's the case then I'll be better off with +42 since my car is pretty low on skunk2 shocks/springs

Ninja edit: major fender modification and vast amounts of camber are two things I'm kinda iffy about...:eek:hnoes:.. I'm running -1R,-1.5F

you're running more camber up front??
can i ask why.. that seems really backwards

Please Help!!!! UPDATE:
08 Si Sedan, 1 Finger Gap Front, Half Finger Gap Rear with Tein SS.

Rims: 17x9 +45
What size of tire would Fit Best..??? Please Help!!!
Plan: 255/40/17-Front and 235/40/17-Rear! Rear's Fenders are Rolled! & Negative Camber!

^^^
255/40 on a 9" +45 just won't work, especially with negative camber from bolts. It will hit the strut, no question.

245/40 with a 5mm spacer, that will work for a stock setup, but with coilovers, can't say for certain.

That's the way our cars should be setup, we need more static camber in front for proper handling.
People just always run too much in the rear to fit a more aggressive wheel.

From what I've heard our cars from with -1 or -.5R camber and 0 up front which causes under-steer but more stability. :coffee:
Correct. More camber in front reduces understeer (which is a good thing).

-1.5f/-1.0r/0toe is an ideal daily driver performance alignment

-2.7 front/ -2.5 rear was super fun when I had it. Car rotated like crazy combined with my wider front tires. :giggle:

17x8 +28. You're gonna have to run more camber depending on your height to make it work, but 17x8+42 will look pretty sunk.

ok so shoot me if i did the calculator wrong but according to the figures i inputed.

a 235/40/17 tire should fit on the stock rims with a pro kit drop and not rub.

i'm tryin to get as much contact patch as i can on the stock rims being as i like the stocker look.

would this be crazy to big or should i stick with a 225? hard to contain my wheelspin as it is with the 225 or i wouldn't bother asking about 235's.

I'm also thinking of going 235 soon for the same reason.

Considering the width and high offset of the stock Si rims, I think you'll be perfectly fine.

You won't have any issues with 235/40 on stock wheels with pro kit. You're only 20 mm wider than stock tires which is 10 mm on each side of the tire. I'm running 17x8 +45 (which is same as stock offset but 1 inch wider) and I don't rub with 255/40.

whats wierd is according to tire rack the

235/45 z specs fit 7.5inch to 9inch rims.

235/40 z specs fit 8-9.5 inch rims.

245/40 z specs fit 8.9.5 inch rims.

245/45 z specs fit 7.5inch to 9inch rims.

so i wonder if the 245/45's would actually fit better then the 235/40's.

i'd have to make a speedo adjustment in flashpro but thats not that hard.

245 is going to be tall. I ran 235/45 for about 20,000 miles and I liked the height of them. They filled the fender gap nicely. Here is a pic of mine with 235/45. I think 245/45 would be too much sidewall. This is with HFP suspension, by the way.
