I'm sorry to have to tell you this Pitchy, but it's true. The new Si requires premium fuel.

damn that sucks.. how about ur SI is it the same thing cuz im thinkng of getting that engine next year and do the swap on my civic

On my Si (2002-2005) it's nice, because you can use regular unleaded :thumb:

what is it k20a3 u have there? i might just do that swap on my 7thgen i hear the SI engine is better then the rsx when it comes to turbo because of lower compression ratio

Yes, I have a 2002 Si with the K20a3

if you are going to turbo pichy - you're looking at premium fuel regardless.

very true... but im not financing another car u know what i saying... got a good price for a k20a3 for 3500.00 from mr.vtec WANG.. he said it will have everything to make it work... so i might just do it... thats without labor.. he said that in the 7thgens its mostly plug and play...after u install the new wiring harness

obviously you have to get new motor mounts and some relocation of the battery etc. But yah, not a HUGE change in stuff. My only question to you is this though. If you're going for a swap - why not swap the K20A2 in? Why Go A3? For the cost of install, etc, I'd opt for the A2 if you're going to the trouble of swapping. Plenty of people have dropped the RSX-S motor in the 7thgens without problem. Basically same deal- battery and motor mounts need changed around. Plus, you'd also gain the type S 6speed tranny - good thing when you're planning to boost it as well. I don't know, that's just me I guess.

To be specific, it's 91 octane that it's designed to run on. You can run 87, but the car will be slower.

Here in central Cali it's about 20 cents more per gallon to get 91 vs. regular 87, which is like maybe 3$ extra to fill up if premium is jacked up more than that, which honestly isn't that much.

It's like driving 10 miles to save a dollar in fill-up price which some people do...

... or like buying a hybrid instead of a regular civic to save money on gas
