Skunk2 Stage 3 Cams - Review

Just wanted to say I highly recommend these cams for the price. Putting down 298whp on 93 octane in an all motor setup is awesome!

Please check my build thread for details on my entire setup.

I will post my dynosheet later.

woohhh 09 tsx tct fix issues for chain slap..?? doubt that...hhmmm..honestly i think the tune issue still has a lot to do with it... theres a way to fix the tune to no chain slap... but hey 46k with s2s3 cams, props.

no, 46k miles on K24A2 Cams. The K Series TCT is a known weak point for the whole motor

But what about the 09 tct? How do you know? Post links or data
nice explanation might look into this:thumb:
hybrid racing tensioner is much better than the skunk2 one. the stock tensioner will not work with the very large lobed/race cams. It'll (the tensioner) just skim over the teeth and slap the crap out of the chain. had 2 skunk2's fail (but I have other skunk2 products that I think are excellent), but the hybrid racing is still chugging away with 20k miles at over 550whp (kelford turbo cams)

Got to pay to play.

lol funny because my hybrid tensioner exploded but my oem tct is still working just fine with my large lobe skunk 2 stage 3 cams

I'm all hopped up on Junk 2!!!
i cant wait for cams but i read mixed reviews i was possibly considering the skunk2 stage 2 new dual springs the skunk2 intake manifold, strup header, greddy exhaust, and trying to find a bigger throttle body, i suppose after that im just looking at upgrading my fuel system and a tuning solution
Strup header is straight garbage. Get a quality 3" exhaust like the Full-race too if you're investing in cams.

Tapatalk sucka!

Meh. They redesigned the tensioner quite a few times.
C_Toe's car has oem type S Tensioner and Tuner 3's on it for 30,000 miles and 2 years. Still going strong, 12.5:1 and tons of beatings!
I used Tuner 2 and Tuner 3 on Mayhem and never had an issue. C_Toe on here has one of my builds on his car. K24/K20 with 12.5:1 and Tuner 3's. Over 270HP with stock intake manifold. He beats this thing like none other and 2 years were still going strong.

Go source an old set of their version one tuner 2's.

then come back and say they didn't blow up your tensionr :D
could you run these cams on a stock bottom end?
No
i'm going to try it (oem bottom s3 cams) and rev to 8250....
going with 09 tsx tensioner hope it works with s2s3 tuner cams
ok guys went with the s2 s3 cams and ??????????

bbbbwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! says my :vtec:... way better than stage 2 cams... and i have the whole family 1-3 tuner series...:eyebrows:

as for 09 tsx tct well unfortunately chain slap is still there. so extensive tuning is still required although, it really did quiet it down a lot..

either way install was a breeze took only 45 mintues thanks to a special thread and post on crsx.... either way i'm very happy:dance:

thank you everyone for all ur help:corona:

Had to say I kinda felt like that would happen. Maybe it's got to do with half generation in the versions of cams?

I just bought a set of stage 3's that were hand verified by S2 to be legit v3's, I'm thinking they are one of the few good sets.
well i really didn't pay attention to what version mine were that much all i saw was a s3v inscribed on the cams. at first i thought they were stage2 cams then i saw the thickness of the lobes and i fell in  lol
