Oh good! Finally you guys showed up. Few things...Skunk2TS said:Hey guys, came across this thread and thought I might be able to offer some info and be of some help.
First off, this is my first post to the board. Hello to everyone! This is Tony Shagday, one of the race car drivers for Skunk and the Sales Manager here. Skunk2 is going to be taking a more proactive approach to being involved in message boards and public discussions in the next few months and 8thcivic.com is one of the boards that im pushing to advertise on and get involved with. These days, message boards provide a great tool to be in direct contact with the consumer masses and its kind of a shame that more manufacturers arent more involved with these boards and the end consumer. Being able to see your feedback and opinions can help us shape our customer service and future products. Im hoping that our involvement with this site will be a good decision and that the direct support that we can offer will be received with open arms.
That being said, seeing as how everyone on this board is still real hesitant on cams (understandably so, without full tuning capabilites available), I have a shop that is currently in the process of doing a back to back dyno comparison with basic bolt ons and a Hondata reflash with stock cams vs stage 1 cams. Doug @ Hondata seems to think that the reflash will be enough to work with a stage 1 cam to show modest gains. We havent been able to test that theory out, so this shop wanted to end any speculation and see for themself. Of course, FULL gains will not be able to be utilized until a full Kpro becomes available, but we will see how much the reflash and cams will do. They will be paying close attention to AF ratios and will post up that info once there done.
I figure letting all of you know that a test is being done might help end some of the questions that are in the "grey area".
Thanks, that is all for now. Ill keep you guys updated when i hear anything. Im just as curious to know the results.

Better late then never right? :smile:Excalibur said:Oh good! Finally you guys showed up. Few things...
1) When are you guys gonna complete the composite fuel rail and intake manifold for us to buy?
2) What intake do you guys run. Just curious since everyone has debates about it all the time.
3) Are you guys ever gonna sell a race header?
I love the 70mm megapower btw. Thanks.
Tuning is important on any cam. Yes, there have been cams out there that require a little less tuning with a "stage 1" cam. But like you said, there is always more gains with tuning. Honda has gifted these K motors with VTC which makes tuning on any stage cam vital to optimum performance.Nathen said:ive always been led to think that tuning isnt as important on a stage 1 cam as it is for anything more than that.... Civic... Mustang.. Corvette.. whatever.. stage 1 cams i thought were to be a very safe power adder without any additional tuning. although you could see more gains from tuning.
The Composite Manifold flows better than the current aluminum B manifold offered. The insides on the two is different, not to mention the difference in surface finish.Jandonian said:Curious, I was on the skunk2 website looking around and I saw the compoist and the regular skunk2 intake manifolds. One says 8% from better airflow and the other 3% from just being cooler, does the composite one also provide as good airflow as the other and the 8% or is it just a bit better airflow and just runs cooler?
Church is correct. Even a stage 3 cam will idle like stock for daily driving purposes.Reliant K20Z3 said:With very aggressive aftermarket cams, you might have a slightly rough idle
thats actually not ment for cars, just electrical appliances like pc's iirc. it has been used to defend car modders though. if they can prove that the cams or its installation damaged what ur trying to warrantee then ur screwed.NighHawk8Gen said:Search "moss munguson act" or something like that.
