Any one in here running them? And is it worth the cash, was considering some. I do already have some tsx cams sitting that I was planning to install but id like some real opinion, car will be boosted later in the future and I wont be changing the cams after boost.

Im running skunk2 stage 1 cams. On edyno im making stage2 numbers lol about low to mid 24X whp.

I went from 228 on stock cams to the 24X number on edyno. THey pull HARD top end from 7k and above. Especially in 4th gear they want to just pull at 9k. I have stock valvetrain so my limit is 8600.
how about 4.5k-7k?

My VTEC is set at 4250 rpms so from 4-7k is when the fast ramp technology happens and pins you into your seat.

Isn't that low for a cammed car? I always thought Hondata recommended a higher VTEC point for cars with cams. Have you tried setting it higher to see the difference?

Btw Juice, not knocking anything, just wanted to make sure you exhausted all your options!

Optimal VTEC point will be totally different depending on what set of cams are in the car and even what bolt ons are used

Hondata has a skunk2 basemap for stage 1 cams and VTEC is set at 4250 (correction at 4850) rpms. My tuner w00t629 kept it there, however I did try the 5200 rpm VTEC point and it felt good on my butt dyno but w00t said i was losing low end by doing so and advised me to take it back down lol.

If w00t wants to explain more then he can but thats all i know with the vtec point.. ATL Si is correct, VTEC point depends if the cam is aggressive, type of bolt ons.

I would add that vtec point is dictated by which makes the most hp on low cam and which makes the most hp on high cam and then there's your vtec point. :) typically its high with aftermarket cams like hondata said but in my case it liked it low but then again my setup is wayy different now then when i was first tuned by him..

EDIT: Went on Hondata basemaps and skunk2 S1 VTEC is at 4850 rpms. So my VTEC is there NOT what was said above, sorry. SKunk2 S2 VTEC is set at 5250 rpms..

The vtec point for skunk2 stage 1's is around 4700-4900 rpms. On skunk2 stage 2's 5200-5500 rpms.

My 179b's like 54-5500 rpms.

How big the cam is determines where you put vtec.
so im really thinking about getting these, setup will be (goal is 250whp)

tuner 1's
supertech valve springs/retainers/seals
new chain,tensioner and guides
rsx type-s oil pump
ported and port matched rbc (j35 tb)
e85 conv.

here's my dyno with bolt-ons...hybrid intake, skunk2 header, full-race exhaust

Why wouldn't you get a larger, better cam profile if you're changing valvetrain?
Why wouldn't you get a larger, better cam profile if you're changing valvetrain?
Only reason why I would get the valve train is because its better to be safe than sorry as I plan to rev higher (9k)

Say if I keep the stock valve train I could keep my rev limiter at 8700k?

Yeah so I'm saying since you're doing that why not step up to a more aggressive profile

Doesnt the tuner 2 require more compression and a adjustable cam gear?

Go J37 Tb and port match the RBC to 72mm. E85 conversion you will need bigger injectors like 550cc and a fuel pump.

i mean 8600 rpms is safe. I only go to 8700 rpms when im tuning or racing so its not like im revving that high daily driving.

Skunk2 is now saying Valve train required so they wont be liable for any damage. Before it was "Not required but recommended".

Why wouldn't you get a larger, better cam profile if you're changing valvetrain?
meh, maybe bc if the cam doesn't fall and keeps climbing he wants to rev higher..

Doesnt the tuner 2 require more compression and a adjustable cam gear?
well any change to a higher compression will make more HP. Adjustable cam gear not needed. It was only needed when version 2 and Version 1 exhaust camshaft center line wasn't aligned correctly.

Do you physically have to buy a Skunk2 product? Haha the Cartel 2.2 or Prayoonto Stage 2 will perform like the Skunk2 stage 2 and will be better on your tensioner
If i had a choice of camshaft right now, i'd get the prayoonto for price and performance. It's just the best camshaft on the market for the price.
:yeahthat: I don't think I've ever seen someone dissatisfied with those cams. Stock block capable, nice n/a numbers and they'll spool a turbo like a boss

Never heard of those cams but will check them out !

Oh and drag cartel's are out of my price range..reason why I chose s2
I just swapped out some skunk2 stg2 for Hytech cams. Be cautious of TCT, and VTC gear during tuning. Once tuned you should be good to go!

I seriously wouldn't run any cam with out upgrading the vavletrain...... Thats just side of the road meeting waiting to happen....but I have also had bad luck with almost ever cam i have owned. ;(
Have you run prayoonto stg2 yet man?

Seems like they're worth a shot.
@Woot692, to be honest, it was between them and Hytech. Hell, i cant seem to put over 5K miles on cams, so if a good priced set is floating around, i might have to invest in them. As someone above mention, I also have yet to hear anything negative about them. All good stories and lots of good miles on them. I hope to see the same results on the hytechs. I just loaded a new calibration, (smoother crossover) and i am in love with these hytech. Sorry OP to hyjack the thread.... The skunks did there job with power, no doubt there, I was just looking for much needed mid range.
Yeah, imo from what i've learned about k20's and midrange, you basically can't do any bigger than a stage 1 or drop in cam or you lose midrange to gain top end.
