Just something I was thinking about while driving, is it bad to skip gears when downshifting? I often go from 6th gear to 4th gear to accelerate. I dont skip gears shifting upwards.

yes don't do it...just rev match downshift into the next lower gear until you get to the gear best suited for max accel...overtime you will get faster...for specifics look through the forum

just found the other thread, thanks. Guess I'll start practicing the rev matching . 2500 miles now and no third gear problems, still silky smooth .

I do it all the time, just rev match. If you're new to rev matching, just blip the throttle for now. Later you'll have enough experience to accurately rev to match without even thinking.
