I live in upstate ny, and I would like it to lower my car just to try and rid some wheel gap. I have looked into the HFP suspension, and skunk2 springs, but I'm sure people on here can be much more help than hours of searching. should I just get springs? Or should I spend the money and get shocks struts from koni or something? keep in mind this is a daily driver

Koni yellows (I think)/Nuespeed Race Springs.

how much would you be spending on struts and springs? might as well do coils if your going to go with all that. doesnt have to be the best out there you would be satisfied with some megan racing. then you could get your car looking exactly how you want and have a performance ride. if you just go new springs your going to hate bouncing around all the time with struts that arent stiff.

there are a few springs that can be run with the stock dampers do some research if, most others require the koni dampers which will make a world of difference. simple suspension combos are something to look into. depending what your budget is 200 or 1k or more? lol and how serious are your performance needs

As other people have said, you may want to look into coilovers for price of shocks/struts you could get a entry level set like the TEIN Street Basis. The stock shocks don't handle the lowering springs well, so if you are sticking with struts/springs I recommend the Koni Yellows as well. They handle lowering springs well and feature an adjustable knob on the top of the strut to change the damping.

Street Basis:
TEIN Dampers - Street Basis - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

Koni Yellow:
Koni Shock - Sport Series - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

hfp drop was a little lower ... people say they got the hfp for 450!? where...

I've heard amazing things about koni on our cars. not sure if they were orange or yellows... and then I could basically choose a good spring so go on these instead of hfp kit? and the total for front and rears looked to be 300 something correct? what other brand is up there with koni that's mentioned a lot .. can't think off the top of my head

Yep ExcelerateRep is right on.... Tein Street Basis is great and so are the Konis. The Street Basis coilover are one of the nicest riding coilovers on the market... don't even think coilovers when you think about them... think about Konis and drop springs that are adjustable height because that is how they feel... really excellent. I don't recommend much, but the Tein Street Basis is on of them.... and Konis of course. :)

I agree Chris, for the money I don't think there is much that can beat the Street Basis. TEIN did a great job of offering a high quality coilover at a great price.

We also really like the ST Coilovers as well. We have installed them on a number of customer cars and have heard nothing but positive feedback. We have them listed on our website for $807.49. OP please keep in mind we will often price match if you find a better price elsewhere or at least work on some kind of discount. Ordering from us also means you get fast shipping and great customer service

You guys seem to love the Tein coils, I'm looking for 1.5" drop max because this is a daily and I've read that anything after 1.5 is worthless.. which would send me to hfp or the st coils by kW.. I would also look into koni with springs that drop 1.5" max

edit: I think I misread the description.. it seems that street basis is from .6 to 2 something in drop which would mean I could purchase either or.. if I were to go with coils.

Everyone likes coilovers, but if you aren't going to go very low I'm not sure I see the benefit over a good shock/spring combo. If you have adjustable shocks, you can usually adjust the damping quickly to suit road conditions or driving style. If you care about performance, you would need an alignment every time you made a ride height change with coilovers, which most people aren't gonna do.

which is why I'm gonna go HFP or possibly the koni with a spring that would lower me to around 1.5" tops.. I live in ny where the winters get crazy and really nasty in the way of maintenance.

I have no idea why people are recommending coilovers if you live in upstate new york--those will rust within one or two years.

Neuspeed race is also *way* too low, unless you want your front bumper to be a snow plow.

HFP is a good height, but it's quite stiff. I'd recommend Koni Orange with Tein H Tech springs.

HFP-Killer Suspension Kit!!!! Koni STR.T "Orange" Shocks and Tein S.Tech Springs - Fully Assembled. (06-11 Civic)

Just ask to have the Tein S Tech replaced for Tein H Tech (S techs would be a bit low for my taste in Upstate NY).
