That will work as I've done it before. Strip control arms from the frame to the top of the struts and the hubs, sway bars, front sub frame w/steering rack, and the go fast bits, obviously.

Seem welding inside the empty frames engine bay along the strut towers, firewall to the inner body frame rails, ETC, keeps the flex down to a min which pays real dividends over time, especially if you run hard from apex to apex or if you use any type of bracing.

Copart or a Pick N Pull sell civic fames for as low as $300. I strapped a civic frame to the bed of a pick up truck, no suspension, rims, motor or interior, and had no problems driving 400 miles home.

Hell building a civic si from the frame is the best way to get one. You can correct some of the civics weak spots w/the appropriate after market solution or mechanical know how and you will know your car inside and out.
