My son has a 2006 Honda Civic with the 1.8 in it. When he starts it, it will run fine for a minute or less then it will start to idle rough and the RPMs drop and it will die. Looking for suggestions on where to start. Would a relearn help thus ir should I look elsewhere? The mechanic we took it to said it could be the idle air control valve. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

does the engine heats ?

Idle air control valve or dirty intake runners. Our civics inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber not the intake runners so there is no fuel passing through the runners to clean them. By 150k miles they get dirty enough to impede fuel/air when flowing at low pressure like idle or initial acceleration.

Go get a code reader from AutoZone or some such shite store and see if its throwing a code.
