I think this has been covered before, but I'm a newbie to manual transmission and was wondering wheter that GRINDING noise in reverse gear is normal ? Cuz my si sounds like a toy car everytime I go in reverse. Your input is greatly appreciate.

So. the reverse gear has straight-cut teeth which are noisy (but cheaper to manufacture). The other forward gears have helical cuts which allow smooth engaging and disengaging of the teeth, allowing noiseless operation. Since the reverse gear is used so little, it's a cost-cutting measure.
