Power steering problem

Hi!

I've bought a 2008 LX Coupe this winter and I'm very happy about it! :) I had a '95 a few years back and I kind of missed it! ;)

So, I had the car for a few months now and lately a noticed something weird, When I start the car, everything is fine, the steering is very easy and I can easily rotate it all the way trough while the car is not moving.
Then, I go to work, witch is 12 miles (20km) away, and once in the office parking lot, then I can notice that the steering is suddenly (well, it had to happen slowly in the last 12 miles, but it goes unnoticed since i'm moving at highway speed) very hard to move at low speed...
Then, e few hours later, when I get back to my car, the power steering is back and functioning well... until I get home! As long as it have a few hours to cool down or something, it's okay...

The car have about 35 000 miles (57000 km)...
I've checked the power steering fluid and the level seems ok...

Anyone have any idea of what could be the problem?

Could it just be that the fluid need to be changed or is the pump dying?

Thanks!
:)

Like it here, lots of diy articles! :clapping:

The power steering fluid has been changed and I still have the same problem....

The old fluid was very dark, how can this happened on a 57000km car?
Anyway, I drove my car about 100K (60 miles) since the fluid change, and, like I said, the steering is still quite hard to move at low speed (while parking the car or driving trough the parking lot)

Winter: Sonny WOT 18 (worst tires ever, came with the car)
I actually thought that it was theses tires that was causing problem...

Summer: Yokohama AVID Envigor, brand new, less than 1000 miles since installation

As for me, the warranty was 3 years, so it's passed...
I'll bring it to my honda dealership I guess...
Thanks anyway!

well, It's been a few days since the fluid change and I noticed today that the steering, while still getting harder, is easier than it was last week...
Does it takes a few days for the system to "clean" itself from the old fluid?
Or am I just imagining that so I don't have to pay thousands $$ to repair it? :p

well, the hoses were ok, the pump was dead.... The one from Honda costs like 3 times as much as the 350$ jobber one so.... It's what's installed now... everithing is working well now!
Weird That a 55 000 km pump died...
I often compare repairs to my old '95, 300 000km Civic....
Never changed a power steering pump on that one... don't even recall having to change the power steering fluid!
Why did I sell this car? :p
