no one can tell you anything until you list your turbo setup / power goals. stock motor can hold lots of power for an extended amount of time, but you have to let us know what your going to be dealing with here
The stock motor holds up really well for boost. Mostly everyone here who's got a 400+WHP turbo build is on stock internals and are having no problems with them.
:yeahthat:
you could have the extra edge if you fully build the motor. then you could go 700whp instead. thats what im gonna do this year. then i might break 13's. lol
but seriously.. stock internals will hold up to 400whp. past that your taking a chance
the motor isn't what everyone needs to be worrying about, our trannys start shredding 2nd and 4th gears after 350-375wtq. unless your going to keep your civic as a track-ish car and your willing to through some straight cut gears in the tranny, i personally don't see the point in building the motor
I agree. The motor handles tons of power in stock form quite well. Getting a dogbox or straight cut gears should be the next thing done before even thinking about building the internals. From what I've seen, 4th gear seems to be the most common gear to go in the K20s.
How I see it...If you plan to catch traction on a stock tranny with tons of tq, you can kiss the tranny goodbye. My suggestion is definitely look into getting a dogbox or straight cut gears then start working on catching traction and going faster.
Thanks for the info.
I am probably going for a full race setup with a GT3076R I dont want more than 450hp but there is a difference in the K20Z4 and your Z3. I believe your motors have forged rods and can take 400hp ours are not forged and apparently need upgraded internals for over 340+hp.
Go turbo!!!!!gt30 jummm is better the sc6262 you have a lot of fun mister ALOT lol!!And with tha turbo you no have any lag at all!!! Lmk if you need any advice or any questions on the 8th gens!!
yea i hear that! i have money for another stock tranny somewhere else? lol i popped mine making under 400hp!!!!! on top of that, i wasnt even beating the crap out of it. i actually just got traction on fresh tarmac in 3rd, when i went to 4th....just wasnt there
thats no good? not evan 400bhp and the gears broke? i understand that the internals can take strain but looks to me like the gearbox isnt that strong? how much torque can a stock FN2 gearbox (safley) take?
all help is much apreciated!!!
