piston compression ratio help

I am going to do my Frank build and I was wondering how low of a compression is too low before you need to add boost? I have the z3 head with k24 block. I want to bboost it eventually but not for a while. What compression ratios should I run for now? Or should I go as high as I can and just buy new pistons again when I buy the turbo kit?

depends on what k24 block you've got as to what compression it will end up being.

I'd suggest whatever your goals, you shoot for something around 10.5:1 static compression ratio.

1pt of compression ratio on a K20/24 is going to net you ballpark 3%-4% in power, so anywhere from 6-12whp based on what sort of parts/headwork you have.

I wouldn't worry too much, just aim for something in the 10:1 range. Mahle makes an excellent piston for this application:

4032 allow so it's low expansion/better for a daily car.
