Hi all,

my battery is draining overnight at a rate of 500 mA. by looking into the fuse box and other things i figured out the following

  • both Fi- main relay and Ignition coil relay are closed even when ignition is off and key is removed
  • it is a ground signal coming from A6 pin out of ECM is triggering both relays
  • there is no short between relay ground and body ground
  • when i remove connector A from ECM, relays are not triggering
so i want to ask u guys, is it for sure an ECM issue ?? or any other components or faults might cause ECM to send this ground signal when Ignition is fully off..??

Not 100% sure, but it sounds like you've diagnosed it very well. I was going to suggest a short to ground, but you're checked that.

Possibly a dumb idea, but could the ignition switch be faulty? I wondered if the ECM could be getting power even though the ignition switch is off. Not sure how that would happen, but I think there are separate contacts for some of the circuits.

Sorry I don't have anything more definitive.
