Hello,

I have been having an odd issue with power to the cigarette lighter. I use it for a phone charger adapter not for the actual cigarette lighting part but when the temps are cold. Maybe below 40-50F it will not have power. The power will sometimes come back when the car warms up but until then it does not power up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Specs:

Make: Honda
Model: Civic LX
Engine: 1.8
2 Door Coupe

Looks like a contact problem. Logical explanation is that when metal heats up it expands and then you are getting contact. Try cleaning the contact points and ensure a tighter fit.

I will look at using some electronic contact cleaner in the lighter port and see if that resolves it. Thanks for that info.

Check the fuse. A micro crack in the fuse that is thermally sensitive will act like that. Cool it contracts and opens up. Warm closes.
