You cant beat it with Newegg because the Dell probably uses Foxconn parts.
Looks like a good set up for the price though. Lets just hope its durable and will last you for the time you need it for ;)

Be wary of techs who deny warranty service because you changed the OS :p
Hey, I've never done that. :eek:hnoes: LOL.

This thread reminds me that I'm due for a new computer soon. I've been using the same computer since high school and I'm not in third year university. Jeez. Dell needs to give its employee a better deal i.e. 80% off. HAHA.

I'm actually almost positive I'll be purchasing the XPS 1330.

Haha, never said you did :p
80%.. lol I'd be loaded with Dell-quipment.
3 24" monitors, XPS 700, couple of 1330's.

I just realized we're whoring a Dell system thread. :iorun:

the only thing really holding this thing back would be the motherboard... and if need be I'll get a new one. I know Dell 'tweaks' the bios and crippling various chipsets & features. We'll see how it goes. Maybe a new mobo by christmas...

I hope your not doing gaming on your computer... the 8300 is garbage... 8800 GTS FTW unless you want an ultra

not really gaming on it yet... i have an old 17" trinitron tube i am milking... so the lower gaming resolutions are ok. I can upgrade it later. the quad core is nice tho. it is the snappiest Vista system i have seen yet. And getting it for $751.00 to the door was even sweeter. So far i am pretty happy with it. OSX will be going on a second sata drive soon...

i think i'll demo call of duty 4 and see if i am still into gaming on the pc. i miss the old quakeworld days on my p120 512MB, dual voodoo 8MB(SLI) and dual channel ISDN... :dancing:

The reason the price was cheap is because none of those parts are anything great.. and the list looks longer because you have a bunch of stuff in there like "1 465-6200 Thank you for choosing Dell " However, if it does the job you need, then I guess that's all you can ask for.

Personally, I built a computer a bit over a year ago for a few hundred more and the specs are still ahead of that one. I think dell is a bit overpriced, and all the crap they load onto the computer will make me never buy a laptop again from them.

Edit - Didn't notice the quad core, that's cool. It'll be a while before it's useful though.

That is 100% bullshit. Trust me, I know. Dell will NEVER void a warranty for changing software.

I love my M1210. The EPP is only 10% on new and 15% on used. I know many people who have managed to get their new Dell computer through their company for a better discount and I work for them!

You said they would 'deny warranty service.' That means that they wouldn't send out parts and thats simply not true.

Again, I'm implying some techs thats why I say be wary of techs.. I don't think that sounds like I'm saying ALL, 100% of all dell techs will do that. And deny doesnt mean 100% void. Deny in my sentence implies that unless you revert back to original configuration some techs will not feel comfortable sending out parts when it could be the OS causing issues... unless its blatantly obvious that a piece of hardware is broken of course.
