^ If you want some more budget priced cams that have great quality and excellent power characteristics both in the midrange and the top end, go for the Go-Power KSi cams. That was my next option if I had not been able to have gotten the IPS cams.

In all fairness I wouldn't really consider the GO Power cams to be a budget cam lol. After all, they are made here in the states, that's a lot more than most companies can say lol.

time to dyno results in the same dyno (FN2 civic type R)

test 1 - RRC intake manifold, stock intake with bmc filter, driven crazy scoop, race header, costum made bastuck exhaust, stock cams and flashpro with a MAP calibration made by me: 229HP - 219,8 Nwtq

test 2 - RRC intake manifold, stock intake with bmc filter, driven crazy scoop, race header, costum made bastuck exhaust, spoon sports cams and flashpro with a MAF calibration made by me: 247,6HP - 224,8 Nwtq

Only changes: spoon cams and a MAF calibration.

Difference 18,6 HP

^ No, I would not do it. The knock count and A/F could be waaay off. When my IPS cams were installed, my tuner couldn't even drive the car. The knock count was ridiculous, in the thousands! A/F was off too. ECU would pull power just to make it run. Nothing that FlashPro couldn't fix.

Drop in cams might squeak by as their profiles would be more similar to the stock cams. Just the same, I would tune the motor for cams as you also need to play with the cam angles and ignition timing.

question: has anyone tried using stage 2 cams without a ecu upgrade and just changed out the single valvesprings to dual ones ?

also are 02-04 tsx cams any good?
The exhaust cam is ok, the intake cam is a lot worse.

IMO, unless you can easily do the install yourself TSX cams are not worth the $$.

Coming from an 06+ TSX cam owner.

here's another graph you guys can add for the ips k2 cams. i worked on this car earlier today. it was an 05 rsx type-s with the following mods:

-aem cold air intake
-bored out oem throttle body
-rbc intake manifold with spacer
-SSR race header
-custom 3 inch exhaust
-ips k2's
-comptech 520cc injectors
-running on e85

i didn't get a good torque reading in the higher rpm's so i didn't post the torque graph but it peaked at 174. i had previously street tuned this car on 93 pump gas and made the same peak power. i dyno tuned it this time around with e85 but there wasn't much, if any gains to be had. regardless these cams make great power on a stock block.

three different cam profile ????

Stock K20Z3 cam specs:

For reference the stock 06 Civic Si cams are
intake big lobe
256 @ .050 - .475" lift

intake small lobe
194 @ .050 - .270" lift
200 @ .050 - .277" lift

exhaust big lobe
246 @ .050 - .424 lift

Exhaust small lobe
184 @ .050 - .260" lift
202 @ .050 - .266" lift

the 09 Civic Si cams are
intake big lobe
252 @ .050 - .483" lift

intake small lobe
190 @ .050 - 289" lift
I forgot to do the other lobe (I will get it done this week)

exhaust big lobe
247 @ .050 - .431" lift

exhaust small lobe
195 @ .050 - .285" lift
same as the intake, I forgot.

now the cam specs in the pic doesnt match the project specs for either the 06 or 09 ?

'04 TSX vs '08 Si intake cam?

I'm about to wrap up my k-frank. I have two intake cams in hand and i want to make sure i put in the best one for my build before it goes back in the car.

Here is what I found within this thread;

06 Civic Si 04 TSX
intake big lobe
256 @ .050 - .475" lift 233.6 @ .050 - .4447” lift

intake small lobe
194 @ .050 - .270" lift 204.1 @ 0.50 - .3363
200 @ .050 - .277" lift 204.1 @ 0.50 - .3363

If this is correct, it looks like the Si cam has more duration and lift on the high cam, and less on the low cam. This seems to me it would make more peak hp, but may be less drivable?

Also, has anyone come up with any data on the similarity or difference between the '06 and '08 si cams?

Any comments on peak, drivability, mpg at cruise, etc..? This is for a daily driven k-frank in an FA5..

Eventually I'll probably cave and get something aftermarket, but for now, I was looking for OEM and budget, and I was also under a big time crunch so I didn't have time to find 06-08 TSX cam set. I'm just looking for suggestions on what would be the best out of the two I have in hand (one of them is going into the head tonight!!)

i posted this a while back and well it is possible...you can put s2 cams without ecu upgrade on a rsx...but, you must upgrade your o2 sensor unless urs is a 02-04 rsx-s denso, 05-06 must change it to a 02-04 o2 sensor...i still got k pro later and loaded a basemap and feels the same..s2 crower cams oh and onother thing i'm running a k20z3 motor (head and block)

Has anyone put any aftermarket cam to a smog test? Since you can't see the cam, the only thing I would have to worry about is the sniffer. I would be swapping back to my CT shorty (CARB Legal) and stock cat just for the test, then switch back to my Vibrant with HFC. Anyone have any ideas or can point me towards a resource?

The reason I ask is I'm an N/A guy at heart and don't want to buy the CT S/C to get the power numbers I want and be CARB legal at the same time.
