So for us R18 drivers who plan on boosting or building or both, are there any close-ratio gears for us beside the final drive gears?

We only have our Final Drives and LSD's at the moment for the R18

If you wanted a close ratio gear set, we could design something for you, but we would need a minimum of at least 10 confirmed buyers.

Thanks! I'm sure there are some of us who want a set for our R18s. What would the differences be between the 4.687 and 4.928? But I think the final drives and LSDs will tide us over for the moment.

The shorter the ratio (higher the number), the higher the torque multiplication will be. This will result in quicker acceleration in each gear, but also a reduced top speed in each gear.

It is hard to say how long the gears will last, as there are a lot of variables that can be involved in a transmission failure. Even a car with stock power can break gears rated for 1000hp i.e nothing is indestructible

It basically comes down to Installation, Maintenance, Driver :)

Our 1st gear is the Countershaft Gear only, and is designed to work with the oem mainshaft 1st gear (oem ratio is 3.266). By switching to our Countershaft Gear, this will change the 1st gear ratio to a slightly longer 3.130

Likewise, our mainshaft/2nd gear combo will also work with the oem Countershaft 1st Gear.

Ok! That's interesting, I didn't know you could do that. But second does require a new mainshaft, correct?

Yes, our 2nd comes with a new mainshaft as our main purpose was to solve the weak oem 2nd gear problem. The ratio has also been changed slightly to bring it closer to 3rd gear.

These are running great on my turbo beast 1 month down and holding the power well (together with traction control).



I will put a proper review as soon as I get some time, trying to recuperate after surgery.

what if i order 1-4 with stock 5-6 and stock final drive, is that possible? and can u rebuild it for me if i send u my trans, can u pm me the price on how much to do it together with the master rebuild kit. tnx

1-month MFactory Gears (1st-4th) Review

After a month and a half of rocking these gears this is my current configuration:





As you can see from my images, the MFactory short-ratio gears work well for turbo applications where you utilize the k20a2 4.388 final drive. If gives these gears a stock-like short-ratio with slightly extended MPH in 1st-2nd (where you need it most). For a street turbo car this gearing is perfect as I tend to stay in the power band as I accelerate through the gears.

Please be aware that these gears are semi-helical so a slight whine at 1-4 can be heard at low rpms. Once you are banging through the gears (whether is turbo or all-motor) you will not perceive the slight semi-helical whine. I will post another update during the Spring as the whether is starting to get dicey in the northeast.

Thanks MFactory for another option for beefing up our transmissions while keeping stock-like ratio for enjoyment and acceleration.
