Hey, I've searched the forums on whether a radar detector would be legal, but I couldn't find any info pertaining to Ontario.

Any Tdot drivers got a radar detector? Is it Legal? Also is iit worth it in your opinion? Some friends of mine told me it would only make me paranoid.

I live by my detector If you put the money toward a good one then it will work. As for the parnoid, no way it helps you relaxe. My detector will go off and i wont see the cop posted on the side of the road in the dark for a 1/2 mile atleast and thats in the city. On the highway as far as 1 mile and 1/2. they work or they wouldnt sell. my .02.

about a year ago, i read about this radar detector that's built like a licence plate frame. so the frame is stand alone and looks like nothing more than a frame. the thing that notifies you is a key fob that works on bluetooth technology. so i guess the frame detects the cop radar thing and sends a signal via bluetooth signal. (sorry but i am not a big techie so the explaination is kinda bad) has anyone else heard of this product? or even better, tried it out.

I use in and around t-dot, as well as from Nova Scotia right out to Ontario on the long hauls. As for someone who says it doesn't work... no offence but... Bullshit, you just have to know how to use it. Granted around town it is not much good but on highways and rural roads it is a life saver. Have I ever gotten a ticket while I've owned it... Yes... Have I ever gotten a ticker while using it... No. And just because you have a fuzz buster dosen't mean that you can just speed around everywhere and not get caught, you have to be smart with it.

I believe they are legal in BC, Gavin.

haha i think i've asked Caper the same question already the 1st time i saw that detector.

i've also heard good things about the good ones, and the owner says he only uses it when he's racing else he leaves it "off" cuz apparently cops can detect them too. i'm thinking of getting one myself.....mmmmm

Just dont get caught with one, the fine is pretty expensive.
I still have yet to figure out how to get caught with one... As far as I am concerned you must be pretty stupid to get caught with one...

I guess if the cops have the detector that detects yours. But in this case, my buddy had been pulled over and just forgot the detector on the dash...so I guess yes...he was pretty stupid on that one.
