I just got off the phone with my technical rep at Koni. The long and short of it is, don't expect full strut replacements (in Yellows or FSD) anytime soon. They've been waiting all this last year for some extra design work from their people over in Europe, and just recently found out that the Europeans decided months and months ago to just go with an insert rather than a full replacemtent.

The guys over here just got some insert prototypes that they'll be testing in an employee's car shortly. They're not quite sure where they'll go from there. Apparently getting access to equipment to stamp out the spring purchases has also been an on going problem for these guys. My rep said that 8th gen Civic is their largest unfulfilled application, and they're trying to get this out as quick as they can, but there's been a ridiculous amount of miscommunication going on between regions. I'll call him back in a couple of months to see if there's been any progress.

One question: Where are the guys at Redshift getting their Koni inserts from?

The Redshift Konis aren't really 8th Civic ones. The rears are actually 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Konis, and the fronts are VW Corrado G60 Konis in the stock housing.

You are receiving old information (as it pertains to this board) from Koni as top brass in Holland gave up on a full replacement for the 8th gen cars around the beginning of this year or possibly a little earlier, after unsuccessfully trying to get the stampings for the front struts for almost two years.

And what do you think Koni will do? They may tweak valving a little, but as the old saying goes... If the shoe fits.

Well damn. Since you're getting better information than I am, is there any ETA on the inserts for our cars? And if they gave up on full replacements half a year ago, WTF is taking them so long to bring inserts stateside?

It makes a lot of business sense for Koni to use what Redshift already developed, just put different valving in it. Its a lot cheaper if someone else already did the work. Maybe, they can't find better damping curves than what Redshift already came up with and are giving up  :rotfl:

Truth be told, other than the rebound setting once it is turned up, the dyno plots show that the OTS Koni Sport valving and the Redshift valving is very similar to what the OEM Si Coupe (SVB) valving is, hence my decision to run the Si Coupe struts up front and just save myself a lot of money. I will just replace them every three seasons to keep fresh ones on the car... At $90 each, one can't go wrong.

The rears are another story. :thumb:

Still workin' dem Bilsteins?

Yeah, Redshift wanted to make a shock that could be turned up when you want to have fun, but still be comfy as stock when you don't.

Me, I don't give a rats as about comfy, DA Race Konis with 500#/900# F/R.

Nice to see you now and agian Mario

im the same way . . . it doesnt make any sense to me what so ever why someone would waste money on sport suspension when they are looking for a "comfy" ride . . . i hear SO MANY people complain about how poor the ride quality is after rims/tires/suspension upgrades and it is really frustrating . . . maybe they should have done more research

I dont see how any of this would pertain to us because it's a different stamping.

All this trouble so they can save money and be able to say they have ISO rating or whatever it is.
