Base on Evan's Tuning experience (
), the weakest point of the K Series is the TCT. Upgrading to high lift aftermarket cams will potentially kill the TCT sooner. Picking out TSX cams is a fine idea to retain reliability.
I have set of JUN Type 0 DIC that I would like to use for a build. The lifts are not as high as Drag Cartel, but the duration is much longer > our stock Si cams.
09+ Si VTEC Lobe (IN): 12.1 mm @ 256
09+ Si VTEC Lobe (EX): 10.8 mm @ 246
DC (DIC) VTEC Lobe (IN): 12.7 mm @ 297
DC (DIC) VTEC Lobe (EX): 12.0 mm @ 288
DC (2.2) VTEC Lobe (IN): 13.5 mm @ 250
DC (2.2) VTEC Lobe (EX): 12.2 mm @ 246
JUN (DIC) VTEC Lobe (IN): 12.2 mm @ 304
JUN (DIC) VTEC Lobe (EX): 11.8 mm @ 304
My speculation on TCT failure is due to of high lifts, but not sure on cam durations as much of a factor when compared to lifts
